Rickshaw and Loader Price in Pakistan 2026: Petrol, LPG and Electric Compared

What a passenger rickshaw, a loader and an electric three wheeler actually cost in Pakistan right now, plus the running cost comparison most articles get wrong: rickshaws here run on LPG, not petrol, and that changes the electric switch math completely.

Everyone Compares Electric Rickshaws to Petrol. Almost No Rickshaw in Pakistan Runs on Petrol.

If you are pricing out a rickshaw or a loader for your business, you have probably already seen a dozen articles telling you an electric rickshaw saves you money against a petrol one. That comparison sounds convincing until you notice the detail it skips: the overwhelming majority of rickshaws on Pakistani roads run on LPG, not petrol, and LPG is considerably cheaper to run than petrol. The real savings picture for switching to electric is smaller than most of what you have read, and this guide gives you the honest version alongside the current prices.

A standard 150cc loader carries roughly 800 to 1,000 kg. Prices shift with steel and battery import costs, so treat these as a starting reference, not a fixed quote.

Electric Rickshaw Prices in Pakistan

Established brands moving into electric, Sazgar and United among them, generally sit in the PKR 450,000 to 650,000 range for a passenger model, depending on battery type. Lead acid battery versions cost less and have a shorter usable life. Lithium versions cost more upfront but hold their charge and capacity for longer, which matters if the rickshaw is your daily income.

Some smaller and newer brands advertise electric rickshaws well under PKR 300,000. Treat those cautiously until you have seen the vehicle and asked directly about battery warranty, since a cheap battery that needs replacing within a year erases whatever you saved on the sticker price.

The comparison that actually matters: electricity versus LPG, not petrol

An electric rickshaw genuinely beats a petrol rickshaw on running cost, by a wide margin. But almost no rickshaw driver in Pakistan runs on petrol. LPG is the standard fuel across the rickshaw fleet, and LPG is far more efficient per rupee than petrol. That closes most of the gap that the electric articles are advertising. Electric still tends to win on maintenance, since there is no engine oil, spark plugs or gearbox to service, but the fuel cost saving alone is smaller than it looks from a petrol comparison.

What Actually Changes If You Switch to Electric

Three things genuinely improve with an electric rickshaw, separate from the fuel cost debate.

Maintenance drops. No oil changes, no spark plugs, no exhaust system, far fewer moving parts to wear out. Over a year of daily use this adds up to real savings on top of whatever the fuel comparison shows.

Daily running is quieter and smoother. Electric motors deliver power instantly, which matters in stop start city traffic, and there is no engine noise or vibration over a long shift.

Resale value is still unproven. Electric rickshaws are new enough in Pakistan that a used market barely exists yet. A petrol or LPG rickshaw you can resell with confidence based on decades of used market data. An electric one, you are taking a bet on.

Loader or Passenger: What Should You Actually Buy

This depends entirely on what you intend to do with it, and it is worth being clear eyed about before you spend.

A passenger rickshaw earns per trip, and income depends heavily on route, city and hours driven. A loader earns from a smaller number of larger jobs, moving goods for shopkeepers and small businesses, and tends to have steadier per trip income once you have a regular set of clients. If you are new to the business, a passenger 3 seater is the lower risk entry point since resale is easier if it does not work out. If you already have delivery or wholesale contacts lined up, a loader is usually the better earner per trip.
