It is the CM Punjab E-Bike Scheme, launched under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, and it genuinely puts a brand new electric bike within reach of students on tiny monthly installments. This guide gives you the honest picture and, most importantly, walks you through exactly how to apply.

What exactly is the CM Punjab E-Bike Scheme?

It is a Punjab government student welfare program run in partnership with the Bank of Punjab (BOP). The government provides a large subsidy and covers the interest (markup) and, under the latest expansion, the insurance too, so eligible students can get a brand new electric or petrol bike and pay it off in small, interest free monthly installments over about 2 years. After the final installment, the bike is legally yours.

Is it really only for girls? The honest answer

Who can apply? (Eligibility)

The exact rules can be tightened between phases, so check the portal for the current criteria. Generally, to apply you should:

• Be a regular, full-time student at an HEC-recognised college or university in Punjab, public or private
• Hold a valid Punjab domicile, or a valid CNIC or B-Form confirming Pakistani citizenship
• Meet the minimum age requirement shown on the live portal, reported as either 16 or 18 depending on the phase and source, so do not assume either figure, confirm it when you open the application
• Hold a valid motorcycle driving license or learner's permit, this applies to every applicant regardless of gender, there is no exemption
• Have a parent or legal guardian available to act as guarantor, with their own CNIC and proof of income

The registration is done entirely online, so you do not need to visit any government office to apply. Follow these steps:

1. Go to the official portal at bikes.punjab.gov.pk. This is the only official application channel, do not apply through any third-party website or agent.
2. Create your account using your CNIC and mobile number, then verify with the OTP sent to your phone and set a password.
3. Fill in your personal details, name, CNIC, address and domicile, exactly as they appear on your official documents.
4. Enter your education details, your institution name, department, enrollment number and year of study.
5. Enter your guarantor's details, your parent or guardian's CNIC, mobile number and proof of income.
6. Upload your documents, the clear scans you prepared in the step above.
7. Select your bike preference from the catalogue shown in your dashboard, electric bike, petrol bike, or scooty.
8. Review everything and submit. Double check every field matches your documents exactly, mismatches are a common reason for rejection at the verification stage.

How selection works: the balloting

Because thousands of students apply but the number of bikes is limited, selection is done through a transparent electronic balloting (a public digital draw) held under government supervision. It works roughly like this: once the application window closes, all complete and verified applications are entered into the system, the draw is conducted electronically and the results are published, and selected applicants are then contacted to complete final verification with the Bank of Punjab before receiving their bike.

Because it is a draw and not first come first served, applying early does not guarantee selection, but a complete and correct application makes sure you are actually in the running.

Important: protect yourself from scams

Whenever a scheme goes viral, the scammers come out too. Keep yourself safe:

• Only apply through bikes.punjab.gov.pk. No other website, Facebook page, or WhatsApp link is official.
• Nobody official will ever ask you to pay a "processing fee," "registration fee," or any amount to guarantee your selection. The scheme itself is free to apply to.
• Do not share your CNIC, OTP, or banking details with anyone claiming to speed up or guarantee your application.
